Profile: Associate Professor Dr. Malachi Edwin Vethamani obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in English Literature and Master in Education in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from the University of Malaya and a doctorate in Literature in English from the University of Nottingham, England. He is a recipient of the Chevening Award and the Fulbright Scholarship He was an English language teacher at MARA Junior Science College in Kota Baru and Jasin before he joined Universiti Putra Malaysia in 1986. Dr. Vethamani's areas of specialisation are: Teaching literature in English Young adult literature New varieties of English Professional development in ELT The use of computer mediated applications . He has also written many articles and essays on these areas for both local and international publications. He is the General Editor of the Sasbadi-MELTA ELT Series. Dr. Vethamani is actively involved in the training of teachers both locally and internationally. He has chaired many international and national conferences on teaching English and teaching literature. He was the co-chair of the 13th Oxford Conference on Teaching Literature.
